Touchstone Ranch Recovery Center is located in south central Texas on a cutting horse ranch. This environment allows residents the opportunity to recover from chemical dependency and experience the serenity of a natural ranch setting. Residents will participate in equine therapy; incorporating horses for growth and learning is an experiential modality, meaning that participants learn about themselves and others by participating in activities with the horses and then processing (discussing) thoughts, beliefs, behaviors, and patterns. The spiritual atmosphere helps residents to identify how a Higher Power can influence their lives. The residents receive thorough education on the disease of chemical dependency, relapse recovery dynamics, concrete relapse prevention plan, and the importance of working the 12 steps of A.A. Families are encouraged to participate in aweekly Family Program.
Frank and Nonie Reed have been in recovery for over 23 years from alcohol and drugs. They want to help others to recover from a hopeless state of mind, body and spirit that alcoholism/addiction leads them to. After being shown a new freedom and sense of peace, they want to share their gift of sobriety with others. They have opened up their ranch and their hearts to help alcoholics/addicts who still suffer in hopes that one day at a time, they too can experience a new freedom and sense of peace.
