Nonie started showing horses
at a very young age. She
showed in 4-H and American Quarter Horse Shows as a youth.
She was World Champion Youth Honor Roll Barrel Races AQHA for three
different years. She won many
championships as a youth in showmanship, western pleasure, trail, reining,
cutting, barrels and poles.
After graduating from college, Nonie's disease of
alcohol and drug addiction progressed to the point of hospitalization,
institutions and rehabilitation. After completing a 12 step recovery program
for chemical dependency, Nonie moved to Stephenville, Texas and became very
involved with cutting horses and attending 12 step meetings. In 1987
Nonie won two 1 ton Chevy trucks at the Gold and Silver Cutting Horse Event
in Fort Worth, Texas. Nonie and her 2 daughters continue to show
horses in The Stock Show Horse Association. Nonie has a passion for
her recovery and helping others. She feels blessed to be able to share
her animals as part of the recovery experiential process.
Our staff is dedicated to safety and well-being of
residents. In order to give our
residents the full benefit of Recovery, all of our staff are familiar with
or involved in the 12 steps of recovery and are committed to helping others
achieve their goals.
